Pupuan, 6/6/2023 — SPONTANEOUS AND SUDDEN, are the right words to describe the activities of the Cemara Angin Community or what is familiarly called CA at the beginning of June. After successfully holding the previous Je/alang Malam activity, CA has now succeeded in filling in the workshop for a series of Literacy Safari activities as well as the Inauguration of the Learning Community Award for Literacy Activists at SMP Negeri 4 Pupuan. In this activity CA was not alone, but together with HMJBSID representatives who accompanied him during the activity.

The journey to Pupuan took place early in the morning. Together with Mr Wayan Artika, at precisely 05.30 WITA the group departed from Siingaraja for the village at the foot of Mount Batukau. The cool air and the view of the rising sun accompanied the cold journey at that time. Stop by the people’s market in Pupuan Village to warm your body for a moment while watching the market activity in the morning. A portion of fried food and coffee or warm milk at the Pupuan people’s market will be unforgettable. After approximately an hour’s journey, the group finally arrived at SMPN 4 Pupuan.

The Literacy Safari activity is a collaboration between the Community Service (PKM) team together with SMPN 4 Pupuan. The activity, which took the theme “Reading Ni Pollok’s Love Dilemma”, took place with great fanfare and received a positive response from SMPN 4 Pupuan. The Literacy Safari activity which took place in the hall of SMPN 4 Pupuan was opened with remarks from the Principal of SMPN 4 Pupuan, remarks from the School Managerial Supervisor, followed by a literacy oration from Mr. I Wayan Artika as Head of the Department and member of the PKM team, as well as poetry musical performances from student representatives and special performance from CA members who also performed poetry musicals. After that, the event continued with storytelling performances from student representatives and entered the main event, namely the Inauguration of the Learning Community Award for Literacy Activists at SMP Negeri 4 Pupuan.

After the inauguration, it continued with a literary workshop with CA members which was divided into several parts, namely poetry, orations, poetry musicals, monologues, and book exhibitions. With relatively short activity preparations lasting approximately a week, CA became a participant in the workshop activities and shared insights, especially regarding literature, with the students of SMPN 4 Pupuan. Taking turns, students enter each room which has been designed according to the type of literature. The students seemed very enthusiastic about participating in the workshop activities. Not a few students got involved in the enthusiastic atmosphere and participated in enlivening the workshop activities which lasted for approximately 1.5 hours.

After the workshop ended, all students who had taken part in the workshop and CA member students returned to the hall to take part in the closing ceremony which began with a karaoke duet performance from Mr. I Wayan Artika with the Head of SMPN 4 Pupuan and ended with a group photo. Even though it was at the end of the event, this did not dampen the students’ enthusiasm for participating in the series of closing activities which lasted quite a short time. At the end of the event, it closed with a literacy jargon greeting which was attended by all activity participants with enthusiasm.

After the activity ended, rain marked the end of this CA activity. However, the torrential rain was not strong enough to wash away CA’s determination to increase its existence and continue working as a community full of creativity, Cemara Angin.
