KURUNGBUKA.com, BALI – The Indonesian Reading Ambassador Literacy Safari Team, along with the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI), on the 23rd day, was at Point 19, Bali, Thursday (10/02).

Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha), Faculty of Language Education ??and Arts, Department of Indonesian Language Literature and Regional language, collaborated with PT. Pegadaian (PERSERO) CP Singaraja held Literacy Seminars, Writing Training, Literary Tourism, and Talk shows. This activity is woven with the title; Literacy Safari “Membaca itu Sehat, Menulis itu Hebat” from Thursday to Saturday, 10-12 February 2022.

Gol A Gong, Indonesian Reading Ambassador 2021-2025, explained that the role of students as agents of change must be willing to implement the knowledge gained from campus to the community.

“We should be ashamed of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) agents. When people ask for LPG, there is always stock. If someone asks about change agents, how? That is just an analogy. Now, students must apply the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, one of which is community service,” he said when giving his speech.

In addition, Mas Gong, as he is familiarly called, said that alumni of the Indonesian Language Literature and Regional Language Department students should produce books every year. Students must be at the forefront to build a better Indonesia in the future, especially in literacy.

“We have to get rid of people’s views that Indonesia has a low interest in reading. Now the questions are twofold; no budget or no writer? Now, let’s write,” he said.

Dr. I Wayan Artika, Head of the Department of Indonesian Language Literature and Regional Language, responded that his students had published many books, but scientific books. In contrast, literary books are still rare.

““There are several literary books by students. That too from the results of the competition. Like short stories or poems made together in anthologies. Therefore, I initiate students to be creative and innovative in their work. One way that is being done is to write about Covid-19 records. The book will be published soon,” he responded. (fik)
