March 5, 2024Singaraja, FBS – FBS, as one of the faculties at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha), also known as the lower campus, uses yellow as a symbol of its identity. Why yellow? Yes…yellow is prosperity. Yellow also symbolizes happiness and is something that gives energy and brightness, like the shining sun gives warmth. That is the philosophy of the color yellow in terms of various aspects of existing life.
Exploring the uniqueness and beauty of this beloved campus, there are certainly many stories, tales, reminiscences, and memories that we have experienced while being part of this lower campus. It is known as the frangipani icon because activities on the lower campus are always related to a large frangipani tree that grows in the middle of the campus land. I don’t know when it was planted, until 2010 it was still alive. Old trees no longer have leaves, let alone flowers, but instead are cared for and even decorated with various creativity and knick-knacks hanging from each branch. However, just when the lower campus building was being renovated, the old frangipani had been cut down but has now been replaced by a new young frangipani. It’s the same, it grows in the same place. Amazing isn’t it?! After the growth of the new frangipani tree, through faculty and department student organizations, a new nickname emerged for the students, namely Young Cambodian Warriors.
This faculty, which stands majestically in the middle of the city of Singaraja, which is known as the city of education in Bali, houses two majors, namely languages ??and arts. Language and art cannot be separated, they are so closely related. Without language, art cannot develop, cannot be learned and inherited, cannot convey messages, and cannot function as a link between artists and the public. On the other hand, art also influences language. Without art, language would not be varied and would not contain beauty.
As far as the eye can see, when we are invited to enter the lower campus building we will be faced with the iconic FBS writing which is displayed on the front of the building. Usually used as a photo spot or fun selfie by students or anyone visiting FBS. Its beauty also does not beat the hot sun on the lower campus which was built in this tropical city. Even though the building was built tall and majestic, we are still presented with trees, ornamental plants, and green grass surrounding the lower campus buildings. There is also a seating area in the west corner of the front of the building, as well as seating in the middle of the campus area which is also accessible to WiFi. These seats surround the wantilan or open staging area at FBS. It can be used to just sit, chat, do assignments, or relax. Entering from the front of the FBS building in the lobby, our eyes will first be immediately drawn to a Ganesha statue which seems to welcome us when we enter the building. Ganesha, which is closely related as a symbol of intelligence, was deliberately placed in the lobby, to give a magical impression and when anyone enters this building, to always remember the Creator, always remember to pray before starting work or activities on campus.
Nothing is permanent except change. Even though the physical form has changed several times, this does not change the beautiful and beautiful impression of FBS. Change after change was made for the development and progress of the institution to become better in the future. Hopefully, the new FBS will continue to be victorious, and shining, and continue to work together in harmony. (FBS)
