April 22, 2022Singaraja-Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) continues to strengthen cooperation with universities abroad in order to increase competitiveness. This programme is welcomed by faculties, one of which is the Faculty of Language Education and Arts. The strengthening of cooperation in the field of language and culture was carried out with Ohkagakuen University, Japan. This collaboration is conducted through Virtual Spring Camp on Monday (14/3/2022).
The Virtual Spring Camp was officially opened by the Dean of Faculty of Language Education and Arts of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Made Sutama, M.Pd. He conveyed that as a faculty engaged in language and culture, increasing insight, both for lecturers and students, is very necessary, especially in the globalization era. Besides, it is essential to increase competitiveness. “Therefore, I hope that the cooperation with Ohkagakuen University can be a medium to exchange language and cross-cultural understanding information to get to know each other and make closer relationships,” he said.
Moreover, the Dean of the Faculty of Language Education and Arts of Undiksha said that the involvement of cultural issues in international relations is not only limited to performing arts but more than that. Interacting with citizens of other countries requires an understanding of culture, including its language, so that the process of friendship or cooperation can run well. “Of course, we really appreciate this programme. Through this programme, students can learn about the culture of foreign communities,” he said.
On that occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Language Education and Arts of Undiksha also introduced the culture of ‘salam’ and introduced the study programmes at the Faculty of Language Education and Arts of Undiksha. The Dean of the School of Liberal Arts Ohkagakuen University, Prof. Eunjin Do, also expressed appreciation for the cooperation, and Prof. Eunjin Do hoped the cooperation would continue.
The Virtual Spring Camp was carried out from March 14 to 17, 2022, which was designed with engaging learning activities to allow participants to practice language and get to know each other’s cultures. There were 104 students who participated, consisting of 56 from Undiksha and 48 from Ohkagakuen University.
The collaboration between Undiksha and Ohkagakuen University is not something new. It has been started since 2018. Several programmes are implemented, such as student mobility and cultural exchange activities. In its development, the programme is not only intended for students of the Japanese Language Education Study Programme but is extended to other study programmes.
