August 23, 2022Singaraja-Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha is currently preparing for international accreditation through AQAS or the Agency for Quality Assurance by Accreditation of Study Programmes for several study programmes. Two of them are in the Faculty of Language and Arts, namely the Japanese Language Education Study Programme and the Balinese Language Education Study Programme. Towards this, the faculty with three majors continues to strengthen the required documents through focused group discussions Saturday (25/9/2021).
The activity took place at the Bali Taman Hotel, Buleleng presented three speakers, namely the Secretary of the Undiksha Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Made Agus Dharmadi, S.Pd., M.Pd., Coordinator of the International Accreditation Division of Undiksha Quality Assurance Center, Dr. phil. Dessy Seri Wahyuni, S.Kom.,M.Eng., and consultant, Dr. rer.nat. Nandi, S.T., M.Sc., from the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Participants in the activity consisted of lecturers from related study programmes.
The Dean of the Faculty of Language and Arts, Prof. Dr. I Made Sutama, M.Pd., said that to meet international accreditation, his party had followed the process designed by the university and had produced documents in the form of semester lesson plans and modules. He realized that there were still things that needed to be confirmed. Therefore, a focused group discussion was held to get input and suggestions from the resource persons hoping that the document would be better and ready to be submitted. “Currently, we want to strengthen to support the Rector’s big idea to have an internationally accredited study programme,” he explained.
Besides the documents, it is also necessary to support adequate human resources, especially for the Japanese Language Education Study Programme and the Balinese Language Education Study Programme, in facing this accreditation. Prof. Sutama encouraged lecturers to pay attention to this. For those whose education has a master’s qualification, it is hoped that they can immediately proceed to the doctoral level. Likewise with those who have the doctoral level to prepare for professors or professors and from Lector to Head Lecturer. “We encourage this because human resources are needed,” he added.
Secretary of Quality Assurance Center of Undiksha, Dr. Made Agus Dharmadi, S.Pd., M.Pd., assessed that the enthusiasm of the study programme to welcome this accreditation was very high. This can be seen from the stimulus through a series of workshops and the dynamics of discussions to find the best formula for preparing the self-evaluation report and the supporting data. “This is the same as accreditation in general in Indonesia or national accreditation. There are documents in the form of the semester lesson plan, modules, organizational structure, and others. I see that the study programme’s enthusiasm for this international accreditation is very high,” he said.
Academics from the Faculty of Sports and Health added that various criteria must be met in this accreditation, which must be supported by data, such as curriculum and quality assurance. Apart from that, human resources also include educational qualifications and positions. No less important, it must be supported by adequate infrastructure. “The cooperation is also well done. Then the programme implemented can provide benefits for all parties. So that we can go through the AQAS accreditation well,” he added. He hopes that the study programme can carefully prepare the criteria so that international accreditation can be realized soon. (hms)
