March 5, 2024OPEN RECRUITMENT RESEARCH & INNOVATION PROJECT ASSISTANTS
March 5, 2024Saturday, August 20, 2022, an orientation for new students majoring in foreign languages, namely United Day HMJ BA 2022, took place. After 2 years of holding U-Day activities online due to the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year U-Day was held offline, which is something new for the management this year. The aim of holding U-Day itself is to introduce new students further and in-depth to the majors they have chosen, especially foreign languages. This year’s U-Day carries a theme that is no less interesting than previous U-Day themes, namely “Magic Within Differences Bond”. This theme was proposed by Ida Ayu Komang Trisna Dewi as chairman of the selected committee for this year’s U-Day activities. Dayu explained that this theme implies that HMJ Foreign Languages ??believes that new students can unite in a bond even though many differences surround them. In the foreign language department, there are three study programs, namely English Language Education, Japanese Language Education, and D IV English for Business and Professional Communication. In United Day activities, we will try to build ties of brotherhood between students in the Foreign Language department to create a sense of kinship and harmony. The theme containing elements of magic here is also inspired by the film entitled Harry Potter which is very unique and imaginative, so that through this activity students are expected to be able to think innovatively and creatively.
The pre-U-Day activities will be held on August 13 2022 before the U-Day activities are carried out. The purpose of pre-U-Day is to prepare new students and as an initial introduction before U-Day activities are carried out. The activities carried out were almost the same as U-Day activities in previous years. However, for U-Day this time there were several additional activities such as outbound and art performances for new students to showcase their talents.
This year’s U-Day was also attended by important guests, namely the Head of the Foreign Languages ??Department, Dr. Ni Luh Putu Eka Sulistia Dewi, S.Pd., M.Pd., as well as the Student Advisor for the Foreign Language Department, Gede Satya Hermawan, S.S., M.Si., and Coordinator of each study program in the Foreign Language Department. Eka himself expressed his views regarding this year’s U-Day and that he thought this year’s U-Day was more lively than the previous U-Day because it was held offline. This makes the connectivity of U-Day better between new students and the committee and campus staff. Eka also added that the enthusiasm of the new students this time was very high, the students looked enthusiastic about taking part in all the activities interacting with each other, and building relationships. Finally, Eka expressed his appreciation by congratulating the entire 2022 U-Day committee for organizing and carrying out U-Day activities very well even though this year’s U-Day activities were carried out offline, which was the first experience for the committee so they had to learn a lot and adapt to conditions. the new one. For this reason, Eka hopes that in the future the committee will always improve and always carry out further evaluations. Eka also hopes that this U-Day activity can turn new students into a family that upholds solidarity and can make the Foreign Language Department proud with the various achievements they will make in the future.
In closing, there is a piece of impression and message conveyed by new students through representatives from Boys and Girls United Day 2022. The election of Putu Ngurah Randika Kuslawa from the English Education study program as the 2022 U-Day Boy and Ni Komang Devi Trijayanti from the English Language Education study program as the 2022 U-Day Girl is a source of pride for them. “Happy and grateful,” said Devi. Randika also said, “I was quite surprised at the beginning because I didn’t expect to be selected.” The preparations made by both of them varied, starting from making video assignments and mind maps. Don’t forget to also prepare physically, you need to add vitamins and of course, prepare mentally. According to Devi, this year’s U-Day activities were very enjoyable, plus the committee was not too harsh and knew humanity in educating its younger siblings. Randika also thinks that this activity is good from a committee perspective and the event also provides information about lectures. The hope of the Boys and Girls of U-Day 2022, hopefully the next U-Day activities will continue well without any mental violence and can create closeness between students of the Foreign Language Department.
