Invite to Participate and Preserve the Balinese Language – BasaBali Wiki Holds Outreach at FBS

Singaraja, FBS – One of the foundations for preserving regional languages, especially digital Balinese, namely the BasaBali Wiki Foundation, carried out outreach at the Undiksha Faculty of Languages ??and Arts, on Monday (7/11/2022). The event, which was held in the FBS international classroom, was not only attended by students from the Balinese language education study program but also several students from PMM (Independent Student Exchange) from all universities in Indonesia at Undiksha.

The arrival of the BasaBali Wiki foundation aims to introduce BASAbali Wiki and Public Participation Wikithon as appropriate and safe media for preserving the Balinese language and culture while inviting all members of the community (students) to actively participate in responding to public issues. Ida Bagus Arya Lawa Manuaba who is a writer, lecturer, entrepreneur, Balinese language activist, and content creator explains clearly the BasaBali Wiki. BasaBali Wiki is a forum that collaborates with the government, academics, artists, practitioners, and the general public to preserve the use and maintenance of regional languages ??in digital spaces. In Gus Arya’s explanation, Wikitohon, which is one of the platforms on the WikiBali website, is not only in Bali but also in Makassar, where the participants come from teachers and students.

It is hoped that with this outreach, regional languages ??which are mother tongues, especially Balinese, can be further preserved even though the world is in the modern era, through this foundation BasaBali Wiki Balinese can still be introduced to the world stage digitally.(fbs)
