March 5, 2024The 2023 Literature Festival will be even more enchanting with the holding of the Lontar Letters Competition at the SMA/SMK level throughout Bali. This stunning literary event took place at the Undiksha Auditorium Building, Bali, Singaraja, on 4 October 2023
This activity began with inspiring remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Languages ??and Arts, Ganesha Education University, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd. He encouraged the participants to continue to enrich the literary treasures with their creative ideas. Cultural studies such as Nyurat Lontar are a legacy from ancestors, especially Balinese culture, which must be maintained to continue to be preserved.
A total of 43 students from various high schools/vocational schools throughout Bali competed to show their skills in writing Balinese script on lontar. This important task falls on the shoulders of three jury members who are experts in their fields, namely Ketut Sidang Partayasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., Putu Pertama Yasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Ida Bagus Rai, S.S., M .Pd., who carefully assesses each work produced.
The prestige of the event was further enhanced by the presence of honorable guests, including the head of the dean, Chair of the Indonesian and Regional Literary Language Department, Secretary of the Indonesian and Regional Literary Language Department, Study Program Coordinator within the Indonesian and Regional Literary Language Department, student advisors, Lecturers within the Literary Language Department Indonesia and the Regions, Principal of SMAN 3 Denpasar, Chair of MPM, Presma, Chair of BEM FBS, as well as Chairs of HMJ within the FBS environment.
The 2023 Literature Festival is not only a competition event, but also a moment to foster interest in literature among Bali’s young generation. Through the enthusiasm and dedication of the participants, it is hoped that literary culture can continue to grow and develop on the Island of the Gods. This event shows how literature can inspire, teach, and unite hearts through meaningful words.
