Internship is one of the subjects that appears in the current Merdeka Curriculum. Internships will provide new experiences for students. Through internships, students can implement the knowledge they have acquired in college. Because of the importance of this subject, the English Language Education Study Program held a Technical Assistance activity with the topic “Off-Campus Experience Through Internships in the Industrial World for Students and Lecturers of the English Education Study Program”, (30/03/23).

This activity was opened by the Dean of the Undiksha Faculty of Languages ??and Arts who was represented by the Secretary of the Foreign Languages ??Department. There needs to be a collaboration between students, supervisors, and the Industrial World (DUDI), considering that internships for undergraduate study programs are new in the MBKM curriculum, with good collaboration and cooperation, this internship program will be able to run smoothly, and produce extraordinary output. In line with this, the Coordinator of the English Language Education Study Program, Dr. I G A Lokita Purnamika Utami, S.Pd., M.Pd. said that this internship could later increase the competency of graduates so that it would have an impact on graduates’ absorption in the world of work. Apart from that, having an internship will increase students’ experience in activities outside campus. This will indirectly support the acquisition of IKU 1 and IKU 2. “In addition to socializing internships, we will later sign a study program collaboration. with related DUDI, which will also boost the IKU gain of 6,” continued Lokita.

The activity which took place in the Nitisastra room invited four speakers. One of the invited speakers was the Chair of the Undiksha Vocational Education Competition and Career Development Center (PKKPV) and three of them came from DUDI. In his presentation, the Head of the Undiksha PKKPV Center, represented by his Secretary Dewa Ayu Puteri Handayani, S.Psi., M.Sc., CPC, said that with internships students will get a lot of experience and more real challenges. Besides that, students can implement their field of knowledge in the world of work.

The activity went well, it is hoped that students will gain new experiences and improve their competencies. It does not target just one area of ??competency but can be more varied so that the absorption of graduates will be higher.
