Singaraja- The 65th Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) graduation which took place on August 27 2021 had a different story from previous graduations. The story is not only a full implementation on the network. But also the path taken by graduates to complete their studies.

This graduation was attended by 1,359 people from diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Not all graduates graduate through a thesis or undergraduate thesis. There is one student who is quite interesting, he is Sugeng Santoso, S.Pd. This graduate from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program graduated using the SINTA 2 article publication as a substitute for a thesis. This step also led him to complete his studies within 3 years and 10 months.

This graduation route is stated in the Undiksha Chancellor’s policy during the Covid-19 pandemic Number 1207/UN48.1/DL/2020 concerning Student Final Work, Study Period, and Online Lectures, dated April 1, 2020. In point 5 it is stated that “In the current situation “In order not to hinder graduation, students can use the publication of their scientific work to replace Final Assignments, Theses and Theses”, in point 5b it is stated “Publication of articles in national journals with a minimum index of SINTA 2, as a substitute for a thesis”. This policy also answers the challenges faced previously, namely several times the title of the proposed thesis was rejected. “Previously, I had submitted several titles, but they kept getting rejected. That makes me a little lazy about writing a thesis. “Luckily my supervisor, Mr. I Wayan Artika, told me to try publishing the Sinta-2 journal while writing a proposal so that I can graduate without a thesis and on time,” said Sugeng, his nickname, Friday (10/9/2021).

He wrote three articles. Two of them can be approved by the supervisor. The first, entitled “Moral Analysis in the Videos of Dongeng Kita Channel and Its Relevance to Indonesian Learning”, was written together with Era Agustini and Supervisor Ade Asih Susiari Tantri, S.Pd., M.Pd. The second article is entitled “Features and Themes of Poetry in KOPI (Indonesian Poetry Community) Facebook Group”, written by Made Sania and Supervisor Dr. I Wayan Artika, S.Pd., M.Hum

After going through many processes, on May 28, 2021, Sugeng finally reached the seminar stage by presenting the work “Moral Analysis in the Videos of Dongeng Kita Channel and Its Relevance to Indonesian Learning” which was witnessed by dozens of people. This article was chosen because it was published first. “The seminar schedule is May 18, which coincides with my birthday. “However, because there was a sudden rush from the examiners and it was still around the Eid al-Fitr holiday, it was finally postponed to May 28,” he concluded.

Apart from graduation, this student who once served as Secretary of the MPM of the Undiksha Student Republic also presented a series of achievements for Undiksha. Four achievements were recorded. Among them, 1st place in the Scientific Writing Competition of the Indonesian Catholic Student Association, Bogor Branch; 2nd place in the Sriwijaya State Polytechnic Literacy Community Poetry Creation Competition; 1st Runner Up in the Laporo-Kendari Student, Youth and Student Association Poetry Writing Competition; and Top 10 Finalist in the Language and Literature UKM Short Story Writing Competition, Trunojoyo Madura University. “I am very grateful to God and the good people around me, who have given me a lot of help. “I hope that this publication policy in reputable international/national journals will continue to be implemented, for the better quality of Undiksha student research,” he concluded.
