Singaraja- The Indonesian Regional Language and Literature Student Association (Imbasadi) held the IX Nusantara Workshop. This time, the Balinese Language Education Study Program, Department of Indonesian and Regional Literature, Faculty of Languages ??and Arts, Ganesha Education University (FBS-Undiksha) was trusted as the host. The event, which opened on Thursday (12/5/2022), is an opportunity to unite and raise the spirit in maintaining the existence of culture, one of which is regional languages.

The opening event, which was held in person at the Undiksha Auditorium, described the rich culture of the archipelago. Inside it is filled with exhibitions of various craft products, regional toys, regional clothing, and so on from various universities in Indonesia. This is also a reflection of the event theme “Cultural Tresnaning Cultural Hitaning: Cultural Romance Towards a World of Harmony”. This theme means how we as the younger generation can foster a love for native culture to create a more harmonious life or world.

The President of Imbasadi, Nehemia Anugrah Parasian, explained that this activity is an annual activity. Apart from building a spirit of love for culture, this momentum is also a space to get to know each other and learn about cultures between regions, each of which has its uniqueness. “Even though we are different in terms of regional language, we can learn from each other and can also understand each other,” he explained.

He realized that regional languages ??as a part of culture were faced with challenges. These challenges come from speakers and the rapid flow of globalization. According to Imbasadi, this reality is a serious concern. Imbasadi is moving to carry out preservation efforts in anticipation of the diminishing existence of regional languages. The steps taken include actively holding various competitions, such as regional song competitions, poetry musicals, and so on. “We hope that this effort will receive support from the wider community,” he hoped.

This activity was opened by the Dean of FBS Undiksha Prof. Dr. I Made Sutama, M.Pd. He, who represented the Chancellor of Undiksha, expressed his appreciation for holding this activity at Undiksha because it could be a unique space to display and appreciate the diversity of Indonesian culture. This academic from Ubud, Gianyar Regency also invited all parties to preserve regional languages. “So language itself is a storehouse of culture. “If regional languages ??become extinct, then regional culture will disappear by itself,” he said.

Chair of the IX Ni Nusantara Workshop Committee, Wayan Dewinta Tirta Sintyawati, explained that this activity was attended by 69 participants from various universities in Indonesia. A total of 38 people participated offline. In this series of workshops, various activities were carried out. There is a service that is realized through blood donation activities and teaching at some schools carried out by Imbasadi administrators and also delegates. Apart from that, there are various types of competitions and sharing sessions which are the core of the Indonesian workshop to discuss management programs and the selection of the host for the next workshop.
