The Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) successfully held a guest lecture themed “Artificial Intelligence in Language Learning” on Monday, December 9, 2024. The event took place in the Jayaprana Room and featured Dr. Martina Mulyani, M.Pd., the Head of the English Language Education Study Program from STKIP Pasundan, as the keynote speaker.
The session was officially opened by the Vice Dean I of FBS Undiksha, Dr. Ni Luh Putu Eka Sulistia Dewi, S.Pd., and was attended by more than fifty students and lecturers. In her presentation, Dr. Martina highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language learning. She stated “With AI, learning becomes more personalized. Students can learn based on their needs and at their own pace, but educators still play an important role as facilitators to ensure the learning process re,aoms human-centered.”
The lecture sparked enthusiastic participation for the audience, who engaged in an interactive discussion exploring AI’s potential to enhance learning effectiveness while addressing challenges related to maintaining pedagogical values. One of the participants remarked, “This activity is an important moment to understand how technology can be adopted without sacrificing human values in education”
This guest lecture is expected to inspire the broader application of AI technology in education, fostering relevant and meaningful learning experiences while supporting the development of a skilled workforce in the digital era.
