Singaraja-Dozens of artworks were exhibited at Paduraksa Gallery, Faculty of Language and Arts, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Monday (3/1/2022). The artworks resulted from a special study conducted by students of the Fine Arts Education Study Programme. The exhibition was opened by the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I, accompanied by Faculty of Language and Arts officers.

At an exhibition with curator Dr. Hardiman, M.Si, a Faculty of Language and Arts academic, displayed various artworks, such as painting, sculpture, ceramic art, textile art, prasi art, graphic art, batik, and so on. The works were accommodated in a frame called “Artifacts.” These various works resulted from the creativity, taste, and initiative of students and their mentors, which were full of meaning, telling stories about nature and displaying various cultures, which simultaneously illustrated the diversity of student cultures.

This feature adds to the beautiful feel of the exhibition space and attracts visitors. The Vice-Chancellor of Undiksha, Gede Rasben Dantes, was also very impressed with the work, which he thought was very good and extraordinary. He also appreciated the study programmes, departments, and faculties that had supported this exhibition. “I would like to express my highest appreciation to the Dean at the Faculty of Language and Arts and all of his staff, as well as the lecturers at the Fine Arts Education Study Programme by providing space for our students to be able to continue working and today they can display their works from courses they call special studies,” he said.

He hoped that this special study could be expanded further to produce an independent study related to reviews of artists in Bali, seeing works of art as inspiration for the products produced. “From the works of art that I saw earlier, it was very good to look at student innovation, and earlier, I also mentioned that everyone has their identity. So the art products were strongly influenced by the culture around them, then by their society, customs, and the nature around them,” said Rasben Dantes.

Their works can be an attraction, especially for art specialists. Rasben Dantes assessed that this achievement could be maintained and improved. In addition, he encouraged the study programme to increase collaboration with foreign universities in the context of conducting exhibitions and art development activities.

The selection of special studies cannot be separated from the process and results of student education in lectures which were further supported by the approval of the lecturers. This special study exhibition was expected to be a medium of education for other students and the public. Through this exhibition, it was hoped that the art gallery could become the focus of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha’s points on art development. (hms)
