A seminar entitled “BUILDING THE VISION OF LANGUAGE TEACHERS IN THE 4.0 ERA” was implemented by the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (30/10). This activity was motivated by the current conditions, and how Revolution 4.0 must be responded to with changes among prospective Indonesian language teacher students. This is done by building a vision of language teachers in the 4.0 era, as early as possible. This activity was attended by lecturers, and invitees, and opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Languages ??and Arts, Prof. Dr. I Made Sutama, M.Pd.

In his speech, the Dean emphasized that the current conditions have brought about rapid life changes, including in the world of education. This was the statement conveyed by the Dean to all seminar participants, semester I-V students.

The event, hosted by Kadek Wirahyuni, S.Pd., M.Pd., presented two speakers, namely I Komang Rika Adi Putra, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Head of Bali Medika Denpsar Health Middle School) and I Wayan Pariawan, S.Pd. (Head of Ganesha Operations Denpasar).

In this seminar, many issues emerged that received attention from both speakers and participants. At this time, Revolution 4.0 is bringing “ghosts” that teachers are worried about. Maybe one day teachers will be replaced. The internet and the learning applications provided as well as the wealth of open learning resources, mean that students no longer need the services of teachers. In this regard, the teacher’s vision must be changed because it is not enough to just see the internet as a tool or learning medium amidst the “ghost” that the internet will replace the role of the teacher. It is not enough to see the internet as a medium and management of learning and meanwhile, teachers remain an extension of the hidden actors behind internet technology, emphasized the two sources.

“Teachers in the 4.0 era must be multi-competent,” was the assertion conveyed by I Komang Rika Adi Putra, S.Pd., M.Pd. Meanwhile, I Wayan Pariawan, S.Pd., said that teachers must be creative and innovative in the midst of major world changes brought about by Revolution 4.0. Based on discussions and responses from the two resource persons, this seminar produced many recommendations in line with efforts to build a vision for language teachers in the 4.0 era, namely (1) becoming multi-competent, creative, and innovative teachers.
