Jakarta – I Wayan Artika, a lecturer from the Indonesia Literature and Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha), had the honor of serving as a keynote speaker in a webinar titled “Pragmatism in Language and Political Literature 1965.” This event was organized by the Master of Applied Linguistics Study Program at the State University of Jakarta (UNJ) in collaboration with HISKI. The Webinar was held via Zoom Meeting and was also streamed live on the Tribun Network YouTube channel on October 31, 2024.

In his presentation, Wayan Artika delivered material titled “Diction and Ideology in Lekra Poetry.” He explained that the choice of diction in Lekra poetry plays an important role in conveying and supporting the ideological goals of the party. “Diction in Lekra poetry reflects the practice of language pragmatism in political literature during the 1950-1965 period. This study affirms that ideology serves as a container for diction within a literary context,” he explained.

The webinar attracted over 300 participants via Zoom and garnered 90 views on YouTube. The interactive discussion session, guided by the moderator, was dynamic, with participants actively posing critical and thought-provoking questions.

Wayan Artika’s participation in this event is a source of pride for FBS Undiksha. The involvement of FBS Undiksha’s lecturers in such scientific forums reflects the faculty’s commitment to academic excellence and its to contributing to the development of literary studies in Indonesia
